A beautiful restored late Georgian pine 4 dawer chest, on ornate shaped bracket feet. A large chest, solid construction, The timers in the top, sides and all drawer bases are not jointed but made from a single board. The top is 21 1/8” wide, which is huge for an unjointed board. Pine trees in this period of time took over 200 years to mature, today pine trees for joinery mature between 11 to 15 years. The chest has replaced runners and runner guides, so the drawers glide easily in their recesses. The front of the carcase has a fluted mould cut into the leading edge of the timber. Drawers very sturdy with all round dovetailed construction and thick one piece drawer bases. Bracket feet in excellent condition and on all four corners of the chest. A superb, very clean, large chest, with huge storage capacity, in part due to the length of the drawers front to back at 19 5/8”.
